Theres a reason this game never came to fruition; Shinobido 2: Revenge of Zen offers a solid ninja game that genuinely attempts to create something new within its setting. Its also the only other ninja game that attempted to come up with new, original gameplay rather than just update an existing one, with an emphasis on stealth and tactics rather than the old school rush-rush-rush beat-em-up-style game.
Much like Shinobido: Way of the Ninja, the next ninja game in the Shinobido series is going to change the way you look at the genre. That is, as long as the original game is any indication. Its the only ninja game to tie its entire gameplay around the concept of the ninja, with a new level of complexity and sophistication. Which is exactly why the beta you receive right now is so much better than previous games in the series.
The Shinobido series already has a fairly well-established blueprint for making a ninja game. Shinobido 2: Revenge of Zen takes a different approach to the formula, and Shinobido: Way of the Ninja takes things one step further.
After a tumultuous development cycle, it seems that Shinobido: Way of the Ninja will finally be available to the public on the PSP. The game was originally meant to be a PlayStation 2 game, but after the original developer took it in a different direction, Shinobido: Way of the Ninja was turned into a PlayStation Portable game.
